On the occasion of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month "Pink Month", the Family Planning Association branch in Daraa has intensified its activities on the importance of early detection, free examinations, awareness sessions, counseling and training for women on prevention and breast self-examination.
The head of the association’s branch, Dr. Abdul Rahim Bermo, stated to the SANA reporter that the association’s branch, through its clinics, mobile teams and the mobile clinic, is carrying out a campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer with the aim of early detection of the disease, indicating that the campaign will continue until the end of this month while the mobile clinic tours continue to villages and towns to provide the necessary care For the needy.
Bermo explained that the association’s branch, through its specialized cadres and a mobile clinic that includes an echo device, examines women and provides free treatment for them and refers suspected cases to the General Authority of Daraa Hospital for free mammography.
Fida Abdullah, a counselor in the association’s branch, indicated that the society’s clinics started since the beginning of this month with awareness sessions for women about symptoms and signs of cancer and how to self-examination in addition to examining all visits to the society’s clinics and referring suspected cases to public hospitals as well as distributing brochures on how to self-examination, confirming that Work is done as part of the precautionary measures to address the Corona virus, especially with regard to masks and spatial separation.
Women who are over 40 years old, have a genetic history, or who gave birth at a later age are the most vulnerable to breast cancer, and the incidence increases for reasons related to non-childbearing, late marriage, lack of natural breastfeeding, alcoholism, obesity and others.
