Crowds of citizens flooded hundreds of hotspots across the country yesterday with signs, drums and pots showed the government what a boomerang is: the decision to restrict demonstrations only intensified them, and the attempt to suppress several thousand in Balfour spawned a protest like no other in Netanyahu's day.

The mileage limit, which was supposed to prevent crowds, did just the opposite: the ease of getting out of the house to such a close distance made last night's demonstration a simple respite from quarantine, making it accessible to any citizen, anywhere.

The special state of emergency, designed to impose discipline and order, has led to a series of violent attacks on protesters and incidents of police abuse;

And the public trust in the police - which distributed hundreds of reports to protesters about not wearing masks and not keeping their distance while prayers in the synagogues of the Hasidim in Bnei Brak continued without enforcement - suffered another severe blow last night.

Even within the government, the increased effort that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has invested to disperse the demonstrations in Balfour is now spinning in the boomerang.

Although Netanyahu managed to get the blue and white chairman, Bnei Gantz, to agree to the demand to impose a stricter closure with restrictions on the demonstrations, Gantz soon discovered that it was one step too many and over the weekend recalculated a route.

The resignation of Tourism Minister Assaf Zamir from the government on Friday culminated in a stormy and exciting week of lively internal discussions, in which nearly half of the MKs resented and resented the conduct of the party's top brass - and especially, Netanyahu's continued surrender and demands: Yizhar Shai threatened to resign Miki Haimovich, Ram Shefa and Orit Farkash did not respond to his request to support the law to prevent demonstrations, and other MKs expressed disgust and frustration in closed conversations.

The force behind Ganz made noises that he was falling apart.

In the face of the bitterness from home, the demonstrations outside, and the bloody seats in the polls, the blue and white leadership decided to "replace a diskette": On Thursday, after another shouting battle with Netanyahu in the Corona cabinet, Ganz met with Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn.

In the first stage, it was decided to begin the process of appointing the State Attorney, in violation of an agreement with the Likud that freezes all senior appointments until a joint committee is established to examine reform in the method of appointments.

"I will no longer allow the chaos and upheaval to continue," Ganz said.

Public trust suffered another severe blow.

The identity of the state attorney will not calm the rage in the streets, but it directly hurts Netanyahu's soul bird, and signals a change of direction, designed to calm the rebellious voices and crowd the ranks at home.

"In practice, the Likud can prevent any election of Nissenkorn from ever reaching approval at the cabinet table, but in blue and white they are building on the High Court, which in such a case orders the completion of the appointment process.

At the same time, Gantz demands that Netanyahu immediately start working on the state budget." Special budget boxes for Corona without giving stability to the economy and the economy; and in general, so at least they say in blue and white - it remains to be seen how it will progress to the execution stage - the intention is to be more aggressive, in every scenario and on every issue. , They are determined to prove it true.

The battle for the demonstrations is here to stay

The combination of the turmoil in blue and white along with last night's events and the rush in the streets are expected to cause the boomerang to spin this week at an accelerated pace until Thursday, when the government will be required to approve an extension of the special emergency to continue the strict closure and ban on demonstrations.

The harsh images of the clashes between the police and the demonstrators in Tel Aviv will pour more fuel into the protest fire, and with the backlash of Zamir's resignation, public pressure on Blue and White to stop Netanyahu and resume the demonstrations will increase.

On the other hand, the crowds and report numbers will fuel the Likud's effort to label the protesters as violators of a law that endangers public health while the rest of the country is in quarantine.

Already last week, Netanyahu tried in the Corona cabinet to limit the distance from the house to 100 or 200 meters, and he may use the mass demonstrations as an excuse to demand a further tightening of the closure.

So the battle for the demonstrations is here to stay, and if blue and white stand by their declarations of the end of the age of restraint, it will only intensify and undermine the already shaky foundations of the government.

For weeks now, coalition chairman Miki Zohar, MK Shlomo Karai and other Netanyahu Likud associates have been dreaming loudly about disbanding the government and going to the polls, and the declaration of war by blue and white also gives them the excuse: appointing a state attorney is a core issue for two voters The parties on the most charged issue of the rule of law and Netanyahu.

However, despite public pressure to resign, Blue and White do not intend to give up their seats and give Netanyahu the gift of running in a caretaker government in which he has absolute control, nor can he fire them.

For them, in entering the government and especially in taking over the Ministry of Justice they have saved the country, and they are determined to stay there as the last outpost of gatekeepers and democracy.

All roads lead to one lane

The opposition took advantage of Zamir's resignation and the belligerent tones between the two factions of the government to re-flood the constructive distrust initiative, that is, the attempts to form an alternative government in this Knesset. But the chances that Gantz, Lapid, Bennett, Lieberman, Horowitz and Odeh will agree on one candidate to stand for prime minister to win 61 seats are close to zero.

Gantz and the opposition leader barely speak, and Bennett, who is rising in the polls, has no interest in overthrowing a right-wing government or preventing elections, let alone Yoaz Handel and Zvika Hauser, who will not flow with a government that needs outside support from the joint list. An alternative right-wing government, so that if the frontal confrontation between the Likud and Blue and White continues - all seemingly lead to one path: to go to the polls at the end of December, around the date of budget approval, the

Likud waves ostentatious elections, only in the Corona era It could be a dangerous gamble, and in the coming weeks he will try to smash the curves and flatten the medical indices, but if he does not succeed, he too will have to recalculate a path.
