Ottawa - SANA
Canada announced today that it will suspend the export of some drone technology to Turkey until it is verified that the Turkish regime is not using this technology in the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Nagorno Karabakh region.
Reuters quoted Canadian Foreign Minister Francois Philippe Champaign as saying today, "In line with Canada's strict export control system and due to the ongoing hostilities, the relevant export permits to Turkey have been suspended to allow time for a further assessment of the situation."
On the other hand, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters that he had asked Champaign to travel to Europe "to discuss with our allies the developments in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, especially in Nagorny Karabakh."
Last April, Canada announced the extension of the ban on selling new weapons technology to the Turkish regime indefinitely due to the use of these weapons in human rights violations and interference in the affairs of other countries.
The situation in the Nagorno Karabakh region has witnessed a sudden military escalation since the 27th of last September.
