Covid-19: around Donald Trump, the White House undermined by contamination

2020-10-05T20:59:43.314Z

Around the American president, it is a real hecatomb. And chain contaminations could well weigh on the campaign.

After being questioned by the US president himself, the celerity of Covid-19 violently burst into the White House this week.

But the deadly virus was not content to infect Donald Trump, who said Monday night to feel "really good".

He also attacked several members of his bodyguard, disrupting habits in the heart of Washington.

First, his wife.

While the leader was hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center, Melania Trump, 50, is recovering in the White House.

"I feel good and I will continue to rest at home," she tweeted on Monday as her husband reconnected with the social network to announce his discharge from the hospital.

President Ivanka Trump's daughter and her husband Jared Kushner, who hold White House advisers, are spared.

Several advisers and assistants affected

In his professional entourage also, it is the hecatomb.

The positive diagnosis of Hope Hicks, 31, a close advisor to Donald Trump, leaked to the media on Thursday.

She travels regularly with the President and accompanied him twice aboard Air Force One last week.

Kayleigh McEnany, the spokesperson for the White House, 32, announced that she tested positive on Monday after three days of negative tests.

She said she did not feel any symptoms and went into quarantine.

According to American media, two of his assistants, Chad Gilmartin and Karoline Leavitt, are also infected.

Mike Pence is the interim

Separately, former councilor Kellyanne Conway, 53, left the White House in August but returned on September 26 for a ceremony.

Friday, she announced to be positive and specified to suffer from "mild symptoms".

Nicholas Luna, one of the president's personal assistants, is also infected.

In the middle of the campaign, many officials are also on the sidelines: Ronna McDaniel, 47, head of the Republican National Committee tested positive Wednesday, Bill Stepien, 42, Donald Trump's campaign leader, and finally Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor, 58, who helped the president train for his televised duel with Democratic rival Joe Biden on Tuesday.

He has been infected and hospitalized since Saturday afternoon.

Without the president and these actors, Donald Trump's campaign rests on the shoulders of his negative Vice President Mike Pence, who continues to crisscross the country.

Three senators reached

Three Republican Senators Mike Lee, 49, Thom Tillis, 60, and Ron Johnson, 65, are carriers of the virus.
