Quebec announced Monday the obligation to wear the mask in class for middle and high school students and the closure of sports halls in "
red
" areas, while the Canadian province has experienced an outbreak of new cases of Covid-19 for several days .
Quebec, the hardest-hit province in Canada, recorded 1,191 new cases and six new deaths on Monday, for the 4th consecutive day above the 1,000 case mark.
The measures will be in effect for three weeks from Thursday.

Secondary students (equivalent to 5th to 1st in France) must wear a mask upon arrival at school, including in classrooms, during this period.
High school students will go to school every other day, alternating with distance education.
This hybrid operation "
will have a significant impact because it will make it possible to reduce by roughly 20% the number of high school students who are on the buses, on the school grounds, in the cafeteria
" and in the corridors, Education Minister Jean-François Roberge said during a press conference.
In addition, sports halls will have to close their doors.
Team sports, matches and competitions cannot take place, only individual or duo practice will be authorized.

Quebec, which has more than eight million inhabitants, has entered "
the second wave
" according to the authorities of the province.
The number of new patients, around a hundred at the end of August, has continued to climb since.
Measures have been taken affecting several sectors of the economy: bars, restaurants, cinemas, museums and libraries in particular have been closed since October 1 and until October 28 in several regions including metropolitan Montreal and the capital Quebec.
Quebecers are called upon not to receive guests at their homes: in the event of an offense, the police can quickly obtain a warrant from a judge who allows them to enter their homes and issue a ticket to each offender (over $ 1,500 , nearly 1,000 euros).
In total, Canada recorded 168,015 cases and 9,492 deaths on Monday.
