The combustion engine no longer has a future in Germany.
Not everyone is in favor. The FDP state chairman even accuses the government of destroying the auto industry.
Stuttgart -
Climate change is
forcing the global
economy
to rethink.
Many industries need to
reduce
greenhouse gas
emissions in order
to stop
global warming
.
The
automotive industry
is particularly hard hit
.
In the meantime,
vehicle manufacturers
such as Daimler AG * are therefore in the midst of
structural
change towards
electromobility
.
In the battle for the electric car, Daimler competitor Tesla last declared war (BW24 * reported).
The
company
from Stuttgart * wants to
promote
the development and manufacture of
battery cells
more in the
future
.
However, the switch to
e-cars
does not generate enthusiasm everywhere.
The EU is even planning to ban the Nitro - a nightmare for Daimler * Industry Intern is therefore the "end of.
Car production
in Germany" feared.
FDP state chief Michael Theurer
agrees with this assessment.
“The CDU-led
federal government is
destroying the German
automotive industry
.
The CDU-led
EU Commission
is taking part, ”said Michael Theurer, who is also the vice-head of the FDP parliamentary group, to the
German Press Agency (dpa)
.
FDP state chief: Discrimination against combustion engines and one-sided fixation on electromobility
The Baden-Württemberg
FDP state chairman Michael Theurer is
particularly disturbed by the fixation on
electric cars
.
“For fear of the Greens, one goes along the path of ideological fixation on
battery cars
,” Michael Theurer told
dpa
.
In return, the
combustion engine is
discriminated against - a type of drive that, from Michael Theurer's point of view, has given Germany its
power
.
At the beginning of July, for example, diesel driving bans were imposed in Stuttgart. *

He considers the fixation on e-cars to be dangerous because it means that Germany's economic power will be lost (symbol picture).

Instead of
forcing
vehicle manufacturers
to transform to
electromobility
,
Michael Theurer
(FDP)
wants
politicians to have fair framework conditions.
The rest would be done by the car manufacturers themselves.
"They sell the cars that can be sold," said Michael Theurer to the
dpa
about the
auto industry
.
“The
climate
doesn't care where the CO2 comes from.
The climate does not care whether
less CO2 is emitted
with climate-neutral
fuels
in the
combustion engine
or in some other way. “But it does not matter for jobs and prosperity in Germany.
“That is why the discrimination against the combustion engine must finally stop”, says Michael Theurer.
FDP state chief sees the power of the Federal Republic endangered by discrimination against the combustion engine
The
FDP state chief Michael Theurer
sees
weaknesses in
electromobility
primarily in the
electricity demand
and the current generation mix in the
EU
.
Because an
e-car
does not only fill up with renewable energies, the CO2 footprint of a battery-operated electric car is no better than that of a natural gas car.
He also sees the unanswered question of how Germany will meet its electricity needs if 40 million
combustion engines were
replaced by e-cars.
Michael Theurer therefore brings a fuel into play that Porsche AG * is also researching.
Porsche's drive system is not about hydrogen or an e-car *, but rather
e-fuels
.
"If you want rapid progress in climate protection, you have to scale climate-neutral synthetic fuels globally," says Michael Theuer about e-fuels.
From the point of view of the FDP state chairman, there is
much more
to the abolition of the
combustion engine
than the fight against
climate change
.
Michael Theurer
believes that the federal government's
economic
policy is
endangering
its own
power
.
“We are not a military power.
And nobody outside of Germany is interested in whether we are morally the better climate protectors, ”Michael Theurer told the
dpa
.
“Our power is
economic power
.
We have to protect them if we want to be able to move anything in the world at all.
Otherwise we are powerless. "(* BW24
