Donald Trump spent three nights in the Walter Reed military hospital.

Now he is returning to the White House - and will continue to be treated there for his Covid disease.

A hospital wing is available in the US power center.

Trump ran early Monday evening (local time) from the Walter Reed military hospital near the US capital Washington, as TV images showed.

He was then driven to a waiting helicopter that was supposed to fly him back to the White House.

Trump had previously announced his impending dismissal on Twitter.

He also sent downplaying statements about the virus, which has already killed more than 200,000 Americans.

He feels very good, Trump let know.

He also told his followers not to be "afraid" of the corona virus: "I feel better than 20 years ago," he tweeted.

"Great medicines and knowledge" had been developed under his government.

Trump's doctor Sean P. Conley had already brought up the possibility of an early discharge on Sunday.

Previously, he had published contradicting information about Trump's health.

Chaotic communication on the state of the president

Conley had initially reacted evasively to the question of whether the US President had at least temporarily needed oxygen therapy.

It wasn't until Sunday that the doctor confirmed that the president's oxygen levels had fallen on Friday morning.

Several US media had previously reported on it.

Trump was also supplied with oxygen, according to Conley.

However, the president was pretty sure not to need the therapy.

With a PR stunt, Trump also caused a sensation on Sunday and sometimes harsh criticism.

After supporters of the president had been gathering in front of the hospital for days, he paid them a visit.

From a black SUV, Trump waved to his fans in Bethesda, north of Washington, on Sunday, as seen on a video on Twitter.

The incident caused massive irritation: Trump exposed the bodyguards who were with him in the car to a risk of infection for his appearance.

Spokeswoman for the power center was also infected

Trump has now also responded to this criticism - also via Twitter, of course: He just wanted to thank his fans and supporters who had stood in front of the hospital hours before even days.

If he did, the media would have claimed he was "rude," Trump wrote.

In addition to the President and First Lady Melania Trump, numerous other people from his immediate vicinity have tested positive for the virus.

Just four days after the trumps, the same now applies to White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany.

She will quarantine after her test result on Monday morning, it said in a message distributed by McEnany on Twitter.

So far, she has no symptoms, she continued.
