The Chinese-born victim was found on September 22 in an apartment with torture marks and holes in her feet.

Several tools were reportedly used, including a drill.

It was a neighbor who sounded the alert after hearing screams coming from the apartment and discovering traces of blood in the hallway.

A man, the owner of the apartment, also born in China, was taken into police custody two days later.

According to the

Parisian

, he would have admitted having dealt the fatal blows, claiming that he wanted to defend himself because the victim thought he had a romantic relationship with his companion.

But he had to be released for issues of compliance with procedural deadlines, the investigating judge not being able to see him in time to indict him.

An arrest warrant was then issued against him.

He was finally arrested on October 2 and indicted the same day for "

murder preceded, accompanied or followed by another crime

" and "

acts of torture and barbarism

", according to the judicial source.

He was remanded in custody.
