A long discussion about the construction of the middle school has broken out in the local council.

Suddenly some asked for an underground car park and more basement space.

Holzkirchen

- Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) looked upset.

From his faction, of all people, there was a lot of headwind.

He scolded: "This is not the first time we are talking about the text of the competition." In July it received a lot of praise.

In addition, they worked on the planning for many months.

"I thought we were a little further."

A long discussion has now developed in the local council when it came to the new Holzkirchen middle school.

As reported, 18 specialist offices are allowed to take part in the architectural competition organized by the municipality for the replacement building, which costs around 23 million euros.

The AKFU architects and city planners act as the competition supervisor.

The winner receives the order for implementation.

Each participant receives money for their efforts, the total competition price is 105,000 euros.

24,000 euros of this go to the winner.

Till Fischer from the AKFU recalled that the municipal council was already working on the draft of the award.

Now it goes - in view of changes as a result of the jury briefing - the final vote on the text.

This in turn serves as a guideline for the participants.

An essential component is the pedagogical room function book that the community created with teachers and that has been approved by the community council.

Accordingly, the school should be geared for 430 students and 18 classes.

Since soil is scarce, the school should be built more densely than the airy existing structure.

The remaining area is used for other uses.

The judges have now recommended reducing this remaining space to around 2000 square meters.

This leaves the architect more room for creativity.

Simon Ammer (SPD) warned of a fixed number.

“If we want a good school, we need leeway.” According to Schmid, however, this number does not have to be adhered to precisely, it is a guide value.

According to Fischer, this is necessary in order to get comparable designs.

"Otherwise we compare apples to pears."

Michael Wohlschläger (CSU) wanted to know whether external events could take place in the break hall.

Since other requirements apply to third-party users, it looks bad, said Werner Kulessa from the building authority.

Corresponding measures drove up the costs.

The money was also involved in the at least 15 car parking spaces and around 230 bicycle parking spaces, which must be proven directly at the secondary school.

Sepp Sappl (CSU) Sr. started a long discussion: He advocated storing the cars in an underground car park and the bikes in an extended basement.

So far, 300 square meters of basement have been planned.

Kulessa estimated that an underground car park would cost 2.5 million euros extra.

Sappl remained tough: "It is clear that financially it will be awesome." But he does not want to obstruct anything.

Albert Kraml (CSU) blew the same horn.

After all, the surface above ground is "our silver".

Group colleague Johannes Dörder nodded.

The underground car park creates space for the school.

According to Schmid, however, an underground car park for the middle school would not be eligible because it would not serve the purpose of an educational institution.

Anita Gritschneder (Greens) thought it was a coup d'état to build a new underground car park - where there was capacity in the car park next door.

Ulrike Küster (Greens) wanted to know why the parking spaces couldn't just be allocated there.

This garage was built for visitors to the Kultur im Oberbräu, explained Schmid.

Since EU funds flowed, misuse is impossible.

Market architect Florens Hintler warned that it would take time to weave the underground car park into the planning.

That throws back the schedule.

The winner is to be chosen in March 2021.

Wolfgang Huber (SPD: "I have had bad experiences with making decisions under time pressure on long-term projects." According to Fischer, the announcement must state whether an underground car park is wanted. “In the end, a majority of the local council decided to implement the competition.
