The New Territories North Region launched an operation codenamed "Chaoyang" against illegal electric vehicles in the area for 2 consecutive days (October 4 and 5). A total of 1,050 leaflets were distributed and arrests were made in Tai Po, Tuen Mun and Lok Ma Chau. 5 males and 1 female (30 to 67 years old), they are suspected of "driving an unregistered vehicle", "driving without a driver's license", "using a vehicle without third party insurance" and "driving without an approved protective helmet" .

The six electric vehicles of the arrested persons were detained for investigation.
