Russian President Vladimir Putin today reiterated during a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the necessity of an immediate cessation of military operations in the Nagorno Karabakh region.
The Kremlin statement reported by Sputnik stated that “a telephone conversation took place between the Russian President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia discussing the escalating armed confrontation in the Nagorno Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which has acquired a wide character and led to heavy losses on both sides, including civilian casualties. Pointing out that the phone call took place at the initiative of the Armenian side.
The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region witnessed a sudden military escalation more than a week ago, at a time when the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides exchanged accusations about the reasons for this escalation.
