A senior police official said this evening (Monday) that in the coming days they may apply to the State Attorney's Office to consider opening a criminal investigation against Minister of Environmental Protection Gila Gamliel, who violated the closure regulations.
The source denied that an initiated request had been made to the Ministry of Health to obtain the minister's epidemiological investigation materials, but noted that "if it is discovered that she gave false testimony in the investigation - that is a problem."
An investigation by an incumbent minister requires the approval of the Attorney General.
Gamliel's epidemiological investigation, which was diagnosed with coronary heart disease, has ended and its findings have not yet been published.
According to the suspicion, the minister was in Tiberias during Yom Kippur, even though she lives in Tel Aviv.
During her stay she also came to a synagogue in the city, where about 35 people prayed - and in violation of regulations.

"I acted within the limits of the closure in order to continue my current public activities and in light of being at the same time a mother of small girls, and my desire to combine the two," the minister added.
She claimed that before the closure took effect she made a joint decision with her husband to stay in Tiberias in an apartment with her nuclear family, as they do during the year and on holidays, and in accordance with guidelines allowing "departure from one place that was fixed to another."
Following the report of a violation of the regulations, dozens of people demonstrated tonight in front of Gamliel's house in Tel Aviv.
The protesters, some of them from the black flag movement, carried signs that read "Shame," "One law for all," and "Resign, Minister for Environmental Pollution."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed in the Corona Cabinet the importance of the guidelines, but called for avoiding drawing conclusions about Gamliel.
