The government announced at the beginning of September its intention to prohibit and penalize the controversial practice of the certificate of virginity, sometimes required before a religious marriage, as part of the bill in preparation and which must pass in the Council of Ministers on December 9.
The proposed criminal sanction, "

" in the bill, is that of "
one year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros
", the Interior Ministry told AFP, specifying that a new article would be added to the public health code.
