A 35-year-old man, a resident of Bat Yam, was arrested last night (Wednesday) after being brutally documented abusing his dog.
The widespread distribution of the harsh videos on social media provoked public outrage, which led to a gathering outside his home and disruption to the execution of the arrest.
After more police officers were called to the scene he was smuggled through the window of his house and taken for questioning.
In the videos, which he shot himself, he is seen hitting the dog with a belt, tying his legs and twisting them, sitting on him and hitting his stomach.
The suspect continued to abuse for long minutes while the dog was heard helplessly howling.

The gathering in Bat Yam, tonight
Dozens of crowds at the scene prevented the suspect from being taken out and taken to a police car, and demanded that he be "lynched" while violating corona guidelines and not maintaining social distance or wearing masks.
As a result, another police force was called to the scene, and the man was smuggled in for questioning through the window of his house.
"Police condemn any animal harm and will work to bring the suspect to justice," it said.
