The Democratic candidate for the presidential elections in the United States, Joe Biden, called for intensifying US pressure on Turkey to push it to reduce the level of tension with Greece.
The French Press Agency quoted Biden as saying that President Donald Trump's administration should pressure Turkey to refrain from practicing more provocative actions in the region against Greece, including the threat to use force and create the atmosphere for the success of diplomatic efforts.
He also called on Biden to work to reduce tension between the two countries through talks.
Biden had described the head of the Turkish regime, Recep Erdogan, in an interview with the New York Times newspaper, as a "tyrant", calling on the Turks to defeat him.
