Before Emmanuel Macron's speech, there was this question: was he going to speak of separatism, in the singular, by clearly pointing to Islamism, or of separatism, in the plural, by targeting other religious communities or political groups, at the risk of downplaying the specificity of the threat of radical Islam?
The Mureaux speech reassured the worried.
The President's words were strong and unambiguous, and the measures announced targeted.
The determination to tackle the specificity of Islamism could not be more clearly articulated.
With the debate on the title of the law, it is the same debate that comes back in another form.
Will the word "separatism" be used?
