In the past, Weiss-Maudi has held various positions in the legal advisory field of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the director of the Department of International Law.
Over the years, she even founded the "Women in Diplomacy" network, which brings together diplomats from all over the world.
"The election of a minister is an important achievement for Israel, which has a direct connection to the peace agreements we signed recently and also shows the potential for increasing Israel's influence at the UN," said Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Ardan.
"I am sure that Sarah's rich legal experience will contribute to the UN, as it contributes greatly to the activities of the Israeli delegation."
Following the election of Weiss-Maudi, the Iranian representative said that "the Israeli regime is an illegal occupying power. It is a shame that an official representative of the committee has been elected from this country."
He added that Sarah's election "does not constitute Iranian recognition of the existence of the State of Israel."
