The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed her rejection of the overt censorship imposed by Western countries on Russian media materials, stressing that this matter is unacceptable to Moscow.
"Such overt censorship is carried out with the silent approval of the governments of the most prominent Western powers and concerned non-governmental human rights organizations, which inflate myths about tight censorship and widespread violations of freedom of expression in Russia," Russia Today channel reported.
"Of course, we do not intend to accept such situations, and we are actively working to thwart any forms of discrimination against the Russian media," Zakharova added.
The Russian media are exposed to a hostile and misleading campaign launched by Western countries, including the European Parliament's adoption in 2016 of a non-binding resolution bearing the stamp of recommendation on what he called "confronting the Russian media."
