There is another case of Candida auris in public hospitals.
The Hospital Authority announced today (6th) that 4 male patients in the Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics of Princess Margaret Hospital were symptomatic carriers, all in stable condition.
In Renji Hospital, three more symptomatic carriers were found, of which two were in stable condition and the other was in serious condition due to his own disease.
A spokesperson for the Hospital Authority's Kowloon West Hospital Cluster said that hospitals had taken measures to prevent the spread of Candida auris, including strengthening patient admission screening and close contact tracking.
There were 4 male patients in the Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics of Princess Margaret Hospital who were symptomatic carriers, ranging in age from 39 to 82 years old.
4 people are in stable condition and are receiving isolation treatment.
In the male medical ward of Yan Chai Hospital where there was a case of carrier earlier, three more symptomatic carriers were found, aged between 68 and 87 years old.
Three people are undergoing isolation treatment, two of them are in stable condition and the other is in serious condition due to their own illness.
The two hospitals will continue to closely monitor the patient's condition and have reported the case to the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up.
The hospital will thoroughly clean and disinfect related wards, strengthen patient admission screening and environmental screening, and strictly implement protective measures for contact transmission.
