President Donald Trump has ordered his negotiators to halt talks on a new economic stimulus package in the financial hit of the COVID-19 pandemic, after Republicans and Democrats have argued for months to reach an agreement.
"I have directed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win,
we will test a major stimulus bill that focuses on working Americans and small businesses,
" the president wrote in a series of tweets this Tuesday afternoon.
Trump said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was not "negotiating in good faith" and claimed to have asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to focus his pre-election efforts on confirming his candidate for the Supreme Court of the United States, Amy Coney Barrett.
