Rats Celebrate at Japan Department Store (YouTube)

Just when we thought 2020 could no longer surprise us, the residents of Mexico City found a huge rat in the city's drainage system.

This is not a particularly fat rat, is it?

But a fortification from your nightmares that reaches a height of almost two meters.

Sanitation department workers almost had a heart attack when they noticed the huge rat waiting for them in the dark drainage system.

It was only after one of the brave workers dared to approach and check what it was all about, that he discovered that it was just a giant doll, apparently a relic of the setting for a particularly creepy Halloween party.

The rat is among 22 tons of garbage pulled from the city's drainage system after the heavy storms that hit the area.

Those who found it testified that since it was very similar to a real rodent, they fled in terror.

It was later learned that the resident of the area, Evelyn Lopez, was the mentally unhealthy woman who created this creepy doll.

According to her, the rat was in a warehouse but was apparently washed away years ago in storms that were in the city and no one helped her find her.

It's not clear what she's planning to do now that "her pet" is back home.
