Julia Jiménez, a health worker from Los Angeles, begged her mother not to attend the funeral of her cousin who died of COVID-19 in Phoenix.
Her mother, who has lupus, agreed, but other family members did not.
In all, 17 members from three states contracted coronavirus.
Jiménez told CNN that she hopes "[Trump] changes her message ... and doesn't make so many jokes about not wearing the mask."
