LFI: Jean-Luc Mélenchon procrastinates for the 2022 presidential election

2020-10-07T16:29:44.417Z

The leader of France Insoumise will once again be a candidate for the Elysee Palace in 2022, but he will take his time to announce it, no doubt

Will Jean-Luc Mélenchon run for the 2022 presidential election and when will he announce it?

The answer to the first question does not appear to be in doubt.

"I don't think anyone can think of being better placed than Jean-Luc Mélenchon for the next presidential election," asserts Eric Coquerel, deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis.

The Left Party, the founding party of the Insoumis movement and of which Coquerel is the “coordinator”, has already voted during a national council on October 4, a motion in favor of the founder of La France Insoumise.

On the other hand, the timetable for this probable candidacy seems more vague.

"Jean-Luc will announce his decision before the end of the year", advances Eric Coquerel cautiously.

Manon Aubry, the young LFI MEP, wants to be more precise “Jean-Luc Mélenchon will consult throughout the month of October.

He said he would make his final decision in October.

"

"If the decision that Mélenchon will take is positive, it will necessarily be known before the national convention of La France insoumise which will be held in Poitiers on November 28 and 29.

The decision could be known at the end of October or during November ”, understands MEP Manuel Bompard.

"There is no question of changing the fundamentals of 2017"

What program will the campaign be based on?

“There is no question of changing the fundamentals of 2017, says Coquerel.

But the health crisis obliges to update some of the themes such as that of poverty and misery.

"Launch of popular consultations, creation in July of the La Boétie Institute, a foundation whose objective is to disseminate the ideas of La France insoumise ... The deputies are preparing to present at the end of the month, a" counter-budget »To respond to the executive's stimulus plan ...

As for the popular rallying federation of the left, launched by Mélenchon after the European elections, it seems to have indeed failed.

Neither the ecologists nor the socialists responded present while the rebels still reject the European prerequisite of the Greens and the PS as well as the social democracy of the socialists.

"This expansion will be done by walking, thanks to the dynamics of the campaign," wants to believe Eric Coquerel.
