770 apartments can be built on the former Lorenz site in Geretsried.

The city council has now passed the development plan to the statute with a large majority.

  • The area of the former Lorenz toy factory in Geretsried has been fallow for years.

  • Now the 4.7 hectare site can be built on.

  • The city council has approved plans for 770 apartments.

Geretsried

- It is a milestone for the city of Geretsried: 40 years after the creation of the largest residential construction project in the history of the municipality - the quarter on Johannisplatz - the way is clear for a similarly important project.

With a large majority, the city council approved the development plan for the former Lorenz site on Tuesday.

Around 770 apartments can now be built on the industrial wasteland on Banater Straße.

Actually, the decision was purely a matter of form, because the district office has already issued the building permit (we reported).

Nevertheless, details were discussed again in detail at the meeting.

The critics in particular spoke up.

"Prefabricated buildings in the style of the GDR"

City Councilor Dr.

Elmar Immertreu (Geretsried List)

“This is a gigantic company if you look at the plans,” headed Dr.

Elmar Immertreu made his counter-speech.

The city council of the Geretsrieder list criticized, among other things, the planned traffic light at the confluence with Blumenstrasse and Elbestrasse, which should allow traffic in the district to flow better.

Residential development is permitted in a commercial area without need.

He compared the planned houses with "prefabricated buildings in the style of the GDR".

The only positive argument in his eyes: affordable living space is created.

“But what is affordable housing?” Asked Immertreu.

He missed a concrete rental price information.

The Weilheim State Building Authority decides on traffic management

Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) felt compelled to make some corrections: whether traffic lights or roundabouts at the busy junction with Blumenstrasse - this decision is in the hands of the Weilheim State Building Authority.

Müller added that the former Lorenz area has not been an industrial park for ten years, but a special-use area.

If the hardware store planned years ago had been located there, “we would have had three times the traffic,” replied the town hall chief.

What does "affordable" living space mean?

Klaus Hoffmann, specialist lawyer for administrative law, went into the subject of affordable housing and explained the model of income-oriented funding.

As reported, 30 percent of the apartments on Banater Straße are to be subsidized by the state.

Which rental price is considered affordable cannot be quantified with a fixed number, but depends on income.

Mayor Müller added that no arbitrary sentence is set here, but that the state guidelines will be adhered to.

City councilor Felix Leipold (Free Voters) confessed that he initially had "a real stomachache" with the project.

He is now grateful for it, said the mandate holder.

One could demand unaffordable living space and then be against it, he said.

“You make yourself look ridiculous.” Leipold hopes that the Geretsrieder will also make use of their first occupancy right there.

The Greens appealed to green the roofs of the houses - even where photovoltaic systems are planned.

After about an hour, the city council passed the statute resolution.

Arthur Wolfseher (SPD), Dominik Irmer (FW), Sabine Lorenz (CSU) as well as Volker Reeh, Patrik Kohlert and Dr.

Elmar Immertreu from the Geretsried list.
