The Community of Madrid has updated the incidence data for each of the 286 basic health areas.

The incidence (cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days) has decreased in the last two weeks by 21% in the capital.

It also decreases in 70% of basic health areas, but there are still 12 with an incidence greater than 1,000.

Compared to two weeks ago, when the Community of Madrid imposed the first restrictions, 36 areas have fallen below that threshold.

Two municipalities that had been confined after the measures of the Ministry of Health have lowered the threshold of 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants: Alcalá de Henares (400) and Móstoles (470).

This limit was one of the health requirements to close the perimeter of the large municipalities.

Another indicator, that of hospital admissions, also points to an improvement in the situation in the Community.

On the map, you can see the restricted areas, those with an incidence greater than 500 and the trend in the last two weeks for the entire region.

Madrid Public Health registers each case according to the address of the person who tests positive, regardless of the health center they go to.

The incidence limit higher than 1,000 has been key to applying the Community restrictions two weeks ago.

Then the criteria of the Ministry of Health was imposed, which left in 500 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants the threshold to confine municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants (in Madrid there are nine, in addition to the capital).

The areas where the situation is most serious and exceeds 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants are Peña Prieta, Rafael Alberti, San Diego, San Martínez de la Riva, Pozo del Tío Raimundo and San Diego (in the Puente de Vallecas district from the capital), San Andrés and San Cristobal (in the Villaverde district), Zofío (in Usera);

Alicante (in the municipality of Fuenlabrada), Las Margaritas (in Getafe) and San Blas (in Parla) and Colmenar Viejo Norte.

The restrictions

The Ministry of Health published on Thursday, September 30, the control measures and recommendations for those localities that exceed the levels agreed this Wednesday in the Interterritorial Health Council —incidence of 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days;

10% positive CRP and an occupancy of covid patients in ICUs above 35%.

Based on these criteria, 10 municipalities in the Community of Madrid, including the capital, have established perimeter confinements, among other limitations, as of the night of this Friday, October 2.

The confinement affected Parla, Fuenlabrada, Alcobendas, Torrejón de Ardoz, Getafe, Alcorcón, Leganés, Móstoles and Alcalá de Henares.

The Government of the Community of Madrid has also maintained the restrictions that existed until then only in some basic health areas that are not part of those municipalities: the basic sanitary area of Reyes Católicos (San Sebastián de los Reyes), of Humanes de Madrid and Villa Del Prado (as of October 5).

How does the virus advance where there is more incidence?

In Spain there are 11 large cities with an incidence of 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and in 14 days and another five cities that exceed 350 cases.

Not all its curves are the same: in some a plateau or a descent is noticed, while in others the infections continue to grow.
