Yerevan-Sana
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that Yerevan is not currently considering the possibility of holding a meeting between the Armenian Minister Zurab Manatsakyanian Elmar Mmadyarov, against the background of the ongoing conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh region.
"The meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan is not mentioned at the current stage," the ministry's spokeswoman, Anna Ngdalian, was quoted by TASS news agency.
For its part, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced that Minister Mmadyarov will go to Geneva tomorrow to hold a meeting with the international mediator in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The ministry stated that the aim of the visit is to meet with the heads of the Minsk Group in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (Russia, France and the United States) and to present Azerbaijan's position on the settlement of the conflict.
Earlier in the day, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced that talks on developments in the conflict in the Karabakh region will take place on October 8 in Geneva and on the 12th of the same month in Moscow.
The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region witnessed a sudden military escalation, while the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides exchanged accusations about the reasons for this escalation.
