: this is the title of the report by the Department of Studies and Statistics of the Ministry of Health (Drees) on recourse to abortion, published on September 24.
In France, the abortion rate has been on an upward trend since the mid-1990s.

In 2019, France even recorded 232,000 abortions, the highest number since the 1990s. Another notable fact, the study shows a significant increase among 30-34 year olds since 2010. Finally, the report shows that women those with the lowest incomes turn to abortion more often.
How can this phenomenon be explained, when France is one of the countries where contraception is used the most?
