Floods in the Nice hinterland: a 6th body found at sea

The balance sheet of storm Alex in the Alpes-Maritimes grew again this Friday with the discovery of a sixth body.


The toll of bad weather in the Nice hinterland worsened on Friday, October 9 with the discovery of a 6th body in the mouth of the Var, firefighters announced.

This body was recovered at sea Thursday, before being identified Friday as a recent victim of the floods and not a corpse exhumed from one of the cemeteries ravaged by water, said firefighters.

Nine people are still missing and 13 are believed to be missing.

The six dead were all found in the Vésubie Valley or lower in the Var river. On the Roya side, several people are missing but to date their bodies have not been found.
