The body of a 92-year-old Lod resident was found today (Friday) at his home on Hasmonean Street in Lod.
An initial check by the night identification officers at the police station does not rule out the possibility that he was murdered.
However the police are still examining all possible directions.
The thief of the elderly man, of Armenian Christian descent, was found by relatives who tried to contact him and he did not answer calls.
The relatives arrived at the apartment and discovered the body.
They called the police, who began investigating the scene, and according to initial signs, the police in the area of humiliation indicated that it was a criminal incident.
Investigators are now trying to figure out who was in the apartment and was the last to see the man.
It was reported that he was known to live alone but was checked to see if there was a caregiver in the area.
Among the other things being examined is whether it was an attempted robbery or burglary that got involved.
Additional directions of inquiry are also being examined.
