(CNN) -

Donald Trump's doctor said Thursday that the president "has completed his course of therapy for COVID-19" and expects him to "return to public engagements" on Saturday.

But there have been no independent sightings yet of Trump, who has been eager to return to the election campaign with only a few weeks until Election Day.

"Saturday will be the 10th since Thursday's diagnosis, and based on the trajectory of advanced diagnoses that the team has been conducting, I fully anticipate the president's safe return to public commitments at that time," wrote the commander of the Navy, Dr. Sean Conley, in a memo released by the White House Thursday night.

His most recent memo, which still doesn't say when the president's last negative test occurred before his diagnosis, comes after Trump made his own claims about his health earlier in the day.

Trump even saying that he is no longer contagious with the coronavirus, filling the information gap left by the lack of public candor from his doctors.

Trump has yet to test negative for coronavirus

During an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday night, Trump declined to answer whether he had tested negative for the virus or when his last negative test took place.

Instead, he said he wants to hold campaign rallies this weekend.

“I think I'll try to have a rally on Saturday night if we can, if we have enough time to put it together.

But we want to have a rally in Florida, probably Florida on Saturday night.

Maybe we'll go back and do one in Pennsylvania the next night, ”Trump said.

The president said some tests would be done on Friday, although it was unclear if the president understood what tests would be done or what they would mean.

Trump told Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo that he no longer believes it is contagious and that he is ready to resume campaign rallies.

In those settings, participants had not previously been forced to physically distance themselves or wear masks.

The president also said that he is immune from contracting the coronavirus again.

CDC's guidelines for coronavirus

However, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say that people infected with coronavirus should wait 10 days after the first symptoms appear before being around other people and should be fever-free for 24 hours. without taking fever-reducing medications.

Trump tested positive Thursday night.

By those guidelines, Trump should still isolate himself, not campaign.

But just two days after being released from the hospital, he was working in the Oval Office.

When asked Thursday about criticism that he was returning to the White House when he was almost certainly catching the virus, Trump said he did not believe that was true.

"I don't think it's contagious at all," he said.

    This is the highlight

But it is impossible for Trump to know, based on how he feels, if he has already eliminated the virus.

Trump also claimed that he now has immunity to the coronavirus.

Science so far indicates that it may have some degree of protection, but it is unclear how strong that protection is or how long it lasts.

Trump sounded hoarse in his interview Thursday morning, but insisted he is better than normal and is ready to resume his campaign program.

I think I'm better… to the point where I'd love to have a rally tonight.

I wanted to do one last night, ”Trump told Bartiromo.

I feel perfect.

There is nothing bad".

Trump does not know when they will give him another test against the coronavirus

Calling his illness "almost a godsend," Trump again praised the drugs he received at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, but said he could not avoid contracting the coronavirus.

“No matter how good the security is, you are not going to protect yourself from this thing,” he said, then added, “You get this thing.

They are dust particles.

The CDC says that the virus can be transmitted through the air in some circumstances.

But the virus is not "dust particles."

The president said that he had not been tested recently, and told Bartiromo, “No, I will be tested very soon, but basically I am very clean.

They say it is in a period of six, seven days.

Trump also appeared to blame an event with the Gold Star families for his infection, despite the fact that his White House Supreme Court nomination announcement has been labeled by some as a super broadcast event and several attendees at that event have been infected.

"I have a lot to do… when I want to greet the Gold Star families… I'm not going to be in a basement saying, 'Hey, I can't see you while you traveled from California and all the different places.'

Okay, "Trump said.

The origin of Trump's coronavirus infection, of course, remains unclear.

Timothy Davis, president and CEO of The Greatest GENERATIONS Foundation, said in a statement that all Gold Star families who attended the White House event tested negative for coronavirus.
