The firefighting and civil defense teams and the Forestry Department of the Directorate of Agriculture and the people are joining forces to control the fires that broke out since midnight Thursday and destroyed large areas of forest and agricultural lands in different areas of the countryside of Lattakia Governorate.

Ruwwad Arab, a firefighter driver and one of the elements of rapid intervention in the Forestry Department of the Lattakia Directorate of Agriculture, indicated that the spread of fires between houses in the village of Balloran and the increase in their burning frequency were among the most difficult challenges we faced in terms of securing the exit of the people and helping them reach the nearest safe point, and now we are in Wadi Kandil to monitor the status of fires after they are put out and prevent them from erupting again.

With eyes full of sadness and painful words, an Arab spoke of the martyrdom of his colleague Rifat Fendi, a tractor driver, who was unable to escape yesterday while he was carrying out his national duty to protect citizens and their property.

Ibrahim Haj Omar, from the Adra Industrial City Fire Brigade, explained that they went to Lattakia to support their colleagues in extinguishing the fires that broke out in the governorate, noting the great cooperation of the people who gave everything they had and did not hesitate to participate in stopping the encroachment of the fire, indicating that the scene of the fire sweeping through the forest quickly Amazing touching and heartbreaking sound of burning tree branches.

On the way to Balloran we were stopped by ambulances stationed at the edge of the road, where the driver Kamal Hassan Mallawi from the Lattakia ambulance system indicated that the system’s personnel were ready to deal with all emergencies, provide assistance to citizens and transport those in need of treatment in hospitals.

Nurse Qusay Al-Sakaj explained that they have been alerted around the clock in the areas where the fires spread, since yesterday to help the affected civilians, deal with suffocation, bruises and falls, and provide first aid to those who need it.

A number of residents living on the Baloran Dam road expressed their fear of the renewed outbreak of fire in the forests near their homes and thanked everyone who contributed to extinguishing the fires.
