It is not so common to see Jean-Luc Mélenchon take inspiration from François Hollande.
Seeing for him a "mouse hole" in 2022, the leader of La France insoumise uses the expression of the former head of state when, more than battered in the polls, he still dreamed of a combination of circumstances allowing him to defeat all predictions.
If there is a "mouse hole" today, it is for a left which would succeed in appearing in the eyes of the public as a credible alternative to Emmanuel Macron.
This credibility to be regained can be understood in both senses of the term: electoral credibility and programmatic credibility.
In other words, to win, the left would need a common candidacy and a common program.
This horizon seems very distant to this day.
Note that a single application is not in itself a winning strategy.
