Live broadcast from the Knesset's Constitution Committee debate
The Knesset's Constitution Committee today (Sunday) discussed the extension of the corona regulations issued by the government.
At the hearing, the committee is expected to extend the validity of the declaration of a special state of emergency due to the corona virus, which mainly includes the restrictions on demonstrations.
This, by virtue of its powers under the "Great Corona Law," under which the commission can approve or reject government regulations relating to the fight against the spread of the virus.
At the beginning of the discussion, the committee's chairman, MK Yaakov Asher (Torah Judaism), said that the closure imposed as part of the fight against the virus is the most effective means used so far.
"Nothing will help, with all the difficulties, problems, inconvenience and harm to the citizens of Israel, at the end of the day - the closure gives results and that can not be argued," he said.

Asher even responded to the criticism of MK Gideon Saar, who resigned last night from his membership in the committee after claiming that it has no powers to change government decisions. Can do more - that's a mistake.
We have certain tools, limited and careful and we have to work with them. "
Saar announced his resignation in protest of not giving sufficient powers to the committee, claiming that the Corona Law violates the Knesset's oversight of the government. "I had serious objections to the wording of the Great Corona Law," Saar wrote in a letter to coalition chairman Mickey Zohar.
"I warned that the law would severely damage the core of the Knesset's parliamentary oversight of the government."
