The district office will soon have a new climate officer.

She was hired without an advertisement behind closed doors with the blessing of the district committee.

Now the environmental committee was considering what the new employee should actually do.

District

- “The lady”, as she was always called by District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß in the district's environmental committee, “the lady” wanted out.

Out of Munich, into the country.

The advertisement for the position of a consultant for economic development at the Weilheim-Schongau district office came at just the right time.

“The lady” was probably perfectly suited, but more as a climate consultant

“The lady” - Jochner-Weiß could not and did not want to give her name for data protection reasons - was then invited to an interview and it happened.

"We found that she is perfectly suited - not as a business promoter, but as a climate consultant," the district administrator reported to the astonished committee members.

"The lady works at the Bavarian State Parliament and deals with the topics of climate protection and mobility," she continued.

The decision-makers in the district office were enthusiastic because an idea was quickly born.

In addition to a climate consultant and a business development consultant, they are also looking for a consultant for transport issues.

Why shouldn't “the lady” work on both topics for a while?

Initially, two subject areas should be dealt with

The idea has charm, said Jochner-Weiß.

After all, the District Office is currently not only concerned with updating the climate protection concept, but also with the creation of a local transport plan in preparation for the expansion of the MVV tariff area.

"And both topics belong together," said the district administrator.

Because an expansion of local public transport is an important cornerstone of efforts to reduce CO2 emissions in the district.

An idea was born and was presented to the members of the district committee on Monday in camera.

They were also impressed and spoke out in favor of offering "the lady" the position that she is expected to take on at the beginning of February.

Apparently not all district committee members were enthusiastic

"Now we just have to think about what tasks the lady should have," said Andrea Jochner-Weiß, beaming with joy.

Maiken Winter (ÖDP / Raisting), however, poured water into the wine.

She said she heard very different things from the district committee.

Not all members were enthusiastic.

And anyway, one thing would be of great interest to her: “Is it possible to fill a position at all without having advertised it beforehand?” Jochner-Weiß assured him immediately.

Certainly this is unusual, but "if such a stroke of luck comes along, you can't just let it move on." She couldn't say anything about the debate in the district committee - it took place in camera.

She quickly tried to get the debate back to the real issue in the district committee.

So now you have a climate and mobility officer.

But what should she do in the district office?

The manager of the district office, Georg Leis, had already made himself smart and presented a suggestion.

“The lady” should only be responsible for climate protection and transport issues for a limited period of time.

After that, he said and spoke of a period of around a year, the second position should then also be filled.

Until then, the new employee should take care of updating the climate protection concept drawn up in 2010 and revised in 2014.

"The main aim is to develop concrete, feasible measures in order to achieve our goal that the entire district will be supplied completely with renewable energies in 2035," noted the district administrator.

In the city of Weilheim, too, this has just been discussed in the climate committee.

Public relations should also be one of the tasks

In addition, the climate protection manager should also ensure that the projects set out in the concept are actually implemented in the future.

This also includes the control and evaluation of the measures.

Public relations should also be an important point in their workbook.

The members of the Environment Committee agreed that one must create greater awareness of the need to generate energy from regenerative sources.

Last but not least, “the lady” should network as well as possible: with climate protection actors, but above all with the Oberland energy transition, with which cooperation is to be intensified.

In addition, the municipalities are to be comprehensively advised and involved in the implementation of the climate protection concept.

The committee agreed at the end of this description of the tasks.
