According to his personal doctor, US President Donald Trump has tested negative for the corona virus.

Rapid tests were negative on "consecutive days", said Sean Conley in a statement on Monday (local time).

He added that in addition to the antigen tests, other laboratory data were also used to determine that the president was no longer contagious after his corona infection.

When Trump tested negative for the first time and how often remained unclear.

Trump announced on October 2 that he had been infected with the corona virus.

Because of his Covid-19 illness, he was treated for three days in a military hospital.

Personal physician Conley had already announced on Saturday that the president was no longer contagious.

He did not publish information on test results at this time.

On his first trip to an election campaign appearance since becoming infected, Trump refrained from wearing a mask on Monday.

He was extremely rarely seen in public wearing mouth and nose protection throughout the pandemic.

His opponents criticized him as a bad example.

Not only Trump was infected with Corona, but also numerous other employees and guests of the White House.

Critique from immunologist Anthony Fauci

The US President had repeatedly downplayed the corona virus in public.

Immediately after his discharge from the hospital, he had spread belittling messages about the pathogen.

Most recently, the US immunologist Anthony Fauci criticized him.

Trump's team incorporated incoherent quotes from Fauci into their campaign in an election commercial.

The Republican's campaign team should no longer use a campaign video for which Fauci's statements were used without his consent and incoherently, the health expert told CNN on Monday.

"I think it's really unfortunate and really disappointing that they did that. It's so clear that I'm not a political person. And I have never - either directly or indirectly - supported a political candidate."

An interview quote from Fauci was used in a Trump commercial, giving the impression that he was saying that in the fight against the coronavirus, no one could have done more than Trump.

Fauci is director of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases and part of the White House's coronavirus working group.

Fauci renewed his criticism on Monday that the statements from an interview published in March had been "completely" taken out of context.

Fauci called it "egregious" should the Trump campaign team consider using it for further campaigning.

"That could actually backfire for you."

In addition, the immunologist was critical of election campaign events, of which Trump wants to hold four this week alone.

"We know that leads to problems," said Fauci, referring to the gathering of many people without a mask.

Given the rapidly increasing number of infections in many parts of the United States, this is even more problematic.

Trump is running for re-election on November 3rd.

In the USA with around 330 million inhabitants there are around 7.8 million confirmed infections with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen.

Around 215,000 people died after being infected.
