  • Affected farmers report great unrest among their animals.

Sachrang - For months,

wolf observations in the Chiemgau have been causing

unrest among alpine farmers - over a dozen sheep were torn down.

Now the

photo of a wolf in the Priental

near Sachrang (Rosenheim district)

causes

panic.

Peter S. from Schwabhausen near Landsberg was on the way to see his in-laws in Sachrang on Sundays.

When he drove past a sheep pasture in his car, he could not believe his eyes: "Suddenly a

wolf ran across the street

into the pasture and stopped."

Schwabhauser discovers a wolf on the street: the animal was near a flock of sheep

For the

nature lover, it

was initially a fascinating sight.

“I was extremely happy.” Peter S. stopped and even got out of his car to take a

picture of the wolf

.

"He turned around

again for a moment

and then

trotted into the neighboring forest

."

Was

he afraid?

"No, the wolves do nothing to humans." But since the animal was

near a flock of sheep

, the Schwabhauser informed the responsible farmer.

Since then it has been rumbling in the Priental.

Almbauer Peter Pfaffinger brought his first

sheep from the valley to safety

on Monday

.

His wife Monika reports: “We have been feeling a

lot of unrest

among our animals for

weeks

.” On Wednesday, her

herd of suckler cows

broke out of the pasture

in the middle of the night

and ran seven kilometers away.

“They just trampled down the electric fence and left.

They were

out of control

, ”reports Monika Pfaffinger.

Schwabhauser discovers wolf on the road: animal on the way in the border area since the end of June

Peter S. has

forwarded

his pictures to the

State Office for the Environment

.

The spokeswoman confirms: "It is likely that this is the wolf that has been found in the

border area Traunstein - Rosenheim - Austria

since the end of June

."

Six dead sheep

were found in June at Reit im Winkl,

three more

at Kössen in Tyrol torn.

On July 23,

another 14 sheep were killed

near Kössen

.

Genetic analyzes showed that it was a

wolf who had immigrated from Croatia or Slovenia

- so far, all wolves in Bavaria came from Central Europe or the Alpine region.

The State Office for the Environment explains that the farmers have been informed about the

new wolf sighting

and refers to the funds that the Free State

pays

for

measures to protect the animals

.

These include electric fences and mobile stables for sheep and goats.

Monika Pfaffinger would prefer the

wolves to be released for shooting

: “There are so many of them now.

The wolf is

no longer in particular need of protection

. "

This is the situation in Bavaria

Since 2006, individual wolves have been detected in Bavaria again several times.

The last wolf in Bavaria was shot in 1882 in Kemnath (Upper Palatinate).

As a rule, there are now

individual migrating animals

that have left their parent pack either from the south-western Alpine arc in Italy or from the central European lowland population, i.e. from Poland or north-east Germany.

Evidence is provided by

wildlife cameras, sightings by qualified observers, genetic analyzes of fur remnants or tears

.

Every now and then it also happens that a

wolf is run over

.

Since May 1st there have been 26 such certificates in the Free State this year.

In the Bavarian Forest National Park, in the Veldenstein Forest near Bayreuth, in the Rhön and on the Grafenwöhr military training area, there are

local animals or even packs

.

A whole pack of wolves has even been spotted near Hamburg.

In the Ostallgäu three sheep were recently torn by a wolf and two other animals were injured.

A wolf also recently appeared in western Germany.
