next week, the Congress, which elects senior officials in national institutions, is expected to convene in Jerusalem. Just before the conference, Likud Center Chairman Haim Katz succeeded in mediating between Zohar and Hagoel and reaching agreements on the division of senior positions in the right-wing bloc.
According to the emerging agreement, the most coveted position, chairman of the JNF, will be divided in rotation between Katz and Mizrahi World Representative Avraham Duvdevani, who currently serves as chairman of the World Zionist Organization, and Hagoel will be appointed to this position in his place. The settlement agreement brings to an end a battle Ben months for control of World Likud Party, the umbrella organization of all Likud branches in representing the party in the Zionist Congress and having an impact on hundreds of tasks and collect national institutions - the JNF, the Jewish Agency, Keren Hayesod and the World Zionist Organization.
With the support of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Zohar and Katz led a move to take over the global Likud, which for the past decade was a stronghold of Hagoel and his associate, former minister and ambassador Danny Danon. However, Zohar and Katz failed to defeat Hagoel in the election.

Immediately after the election, Zohar announced that he was forming a new faction led by him with a majority of 72 of the Likud's 115 deputies in the Zionist Congress, and that he was the party's sole force in the negotiations on national institutions, which are currently underway.
Less than a week before the opening of the Katz Congress, he managed to mediate between the two camps and significantly advance his plans to be appointed chairman of the JNF.
Katz, who is facing an indictment for fraud and breach of trust, is currently in the midst of negotiations on a plea deal that may require him to resign from the Knesset, but according to the rotation agreement with Duvdevani, he will serve only the second part of his term.

The internal reconciliation in the Likud between Zohar and Hagoel is now shaking up the contacts that are taking place between the representatives of the various parties ahead of the convening of the World Zionist Congress next week.
The World Zionist Congress is a historical body that has existed since before the establishment of the state, with members of all parties in Israel and representatives of all Zionist currents and organizations abroad. It controls the national institutions - the JNF, the Jewish Agency, Keren Hayesod and the World Zionist Organization, as well as the many budgets and positions. in them.
During the conference, the delegates to the Congress are supposed to elect a new chairman for the JNF and the Zionist Organization, and it is customary for the factions to reach a coalition agreement on the positions in advance.
The union of Likud forces promises a majority bloc to the right, with whom they can take over the key positions, since it is expected to be supported by all Likud deputies, Shas, Yisrael Beiteinu, Mizrachi (the equivalent of "Yemina" in Congress, T.S.) and another ultra-Orthodox faction called "Etz The Holy. "

The Likud reconciliation also significantly impedes the plans of the current chairman of the JNF, Danny Atar, to be elected to another term.
Only yesterday, blue and white chairman Bnei Gantz announced that he supports the candidacy of Atar, a representative of the Labor Party, but now other parts of the coalition that Atar has built on may crumble: Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu are expected to support the right-wing majority, and Atar may lose his seat.
According to political sources, the re-formed right-wing bloc is of particular concern to representatives of the Reform and Conservative currents, who fear the strengthening of religious and ultra-Orthodox political control over national institutions.
