In 2018, the International Organization of La Francophonie recorded 300 million French speakers around the world!
Intended to “promote French and implement political, educational, economic and cultural cooperation” within all French-speaking countries, the OIF is developing a set of projects to promote the French language across the globe.
The French language is rich in words and expressions which vary from one country to another.
The Belgians say “play the cat” when they miss a lesson;
the Swiss use a "bag" to store their documents;
in the Congo, the “salomon” is that bulky friend that you have accommodated for (too) a long time and who never leaves the sofa in your living room;
something is called a “stone” in Burkina Faso when it is difficult.
These French-speaking expressions are sometimes surprising, often earthy, always picturesque.
What if we learned them to enrich our verb?
