The citizens of Langengeisling are in no way defending themselves against flood protection for their district.

However, they want to go a different way than the water management office.

Langengeisling - The dispute over flood protection for Langengeisling, which was also badly affected by the flood in 2013, has remained quite calm so far.

And the structural measures planned by the Munich Water Management Authority (WWA) for the northern part of the city are not particularly monumental either.

Nevertheless, the residents of the ring-shaped Fehlbachstrasse in particular are not happy with the planning.

At the on-site meeting with the WWA, they brought in an alternative that sounds logical - and is therefore now also being examined by the authorities.

The flood protection for Langengeisling consists of two projects: the elevation of Erdinger Straße or the gravel path in the direction of the Volksfestplatz including some terrain modeling and two dikes.

One is to run north of Fehlbachstrasse, a second in north-south direction at the development boundary.

The dike height is between 30 centimeters and 1.60 meters.

At the height of the place name sign, the WWA provides for a mobile lock across Fehlbachstrasse.

Fehlbach ran through the settlement during the 2013 disaster

Thomas Atzenhofer from WWA and Florian Barnerßoi from the engineering office SKI want to keep the Fehlbach in check, which flooded the settlement, road and fields to the north of Sempt during the flood seven years ago before it flowed off in a north-westerly direction.

At the on-site meeting on Monday afternoon, which was attended by six city councilors, the citizens rejected this solution, also because of the risk that groundwater could then penetrate the cellar again.

Sepp Biller, Sepp Kaiser and Bernd and Rosalinde Hinsche, among others, drew attention to the story.

Because in earlier years, as she remembers, the Fehlbach regularly crossed the western bank and flowed off in the direction of the Kronthaler Weiher and the fields north of the gravel works.

They also made it clear that the water had been cut off.

Because the road was repeatedly filled up, paved and finally asphalted.

Now the western bank is higher than the eastern.

Lower the road to the Kronthaler Weiher, then the water only flows into the fields

The request of the Geislinger: the road towards the recreation area should be lowered or made permeable.

Then the Fehlbach would flow away far away from the buildings, the dykes could be saved.

Atzenhofer pointed out that “there are also concerns there”.

However, the representatives of the WWA and Barnerßoi also had to admit that this variant could protect the buildings more effectively.

You agreed to look into this solution.

Because at the beginning Atzenhofer and Barnerßoi had emphasized "that we are in a very early planning stage".

Constanze Hecker from WWA also had to point out in Langengeisling that “we have to comply with the water law, because otherwise our plans will not be approved by the government of Upper Bavaria or will be cashed in by the courts”.

Funny: Ring closure and northern bypass do not appear in plans

Everyone was amazed that the WWA plans have so far neither taken into account the S-Bahn ring closure, which is to run north of the fairgrounds in the direction of the airport, nor the north bypass in the northeastern area of the endangered area.

Their dam should be up to six meters high.

Both walls could give floods a completely different flow direction.

Atzenhofer reported that, despite being asked, no documents had been obtained so far.

“We can only consider what is there,” he explained.

From the citizenry came the demand that there had to be a body that bundles all planning in the area.

Above all, they saw the city as a duty.
