The Minister of Justice, Avi Nissenkorn, wrote today (Wednesday) to the Civil Service Commissioner, Prof. Daniel Hershkovitz, that there is no justification for delaying the establishment of a search committee for the State Attorney.

"A situation in which, on the one hand, the appointment of a director general to the Ministry of Justice was halted, and on the other hand, an appointment procedure of a state attorney was avoided - but due to the fact that a permanent director general has not yet been appointed, it could harm the Ministry of Justice's activities." .

Yesterday, Hershkovitz sent a letter to the minister in which he claimed that the committee could not be convened at this time because one of the committee members should be the director general of the Ministry of Justice, and today there is no permanent director, but a deputy.

Minister Nissenkorn announced more than two months ago that he intends to appoint Adv. Shimi Brown as permanent CEO, following which the appointments committee headed by the Civil Service Commissioner even approved the appointment.

However, in order to complete the appointment, the approval of the government is needed - which is currently unable to agree on appointments.

In his letter to the commissioner, Nissenkorn hints that the person behind the delay in appointing the permanent director general is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Nissenkorn began about two weeks ago in the process of establishing the selection committee for the position of state attorney, in contrast to an agreement with the Likud on the freezing of senior appointments until the establishment of a joint committee.
