During a press conference, prosecutor Delfino affirmed that this group, which broke away from the self-styled Paraguayan People's Army (EPP), captured Denis, 74, and is still holding him hostage.
In addition, he pointed to Esteban Marín López as the leader and who would have freed the former vice president's assistant, Adelio Mendoza, captured along with the former official.
He clarified that the main members of the EPP are not within this group since they fled after the operation of the military forces on September 2.
After inquiries from journalists, Delfino said that he is handling information "that suggests" that Denis is still alive, but that he cannot give more details.

Denis and his assistant were captured on September 9 when they were working at the former official's ranch in Bella Vista Norte, in the Amambay department, on the border with the Concepción department.
The government deployed an operation in the area to reinforce the search tasks and offered a reward in exchange for information on the captors.
