The Aliyah, Absorption and Diaspora Committee of the Knesset today (Wednesday) held the third discussion on the issue of anti-Semitism on social networks, with the participation of representatives of three of the world's largest social networks and Internet giants, Twitter, Facebook and Google.

Tiktok representatives - Elizabeth Cantor, director of government relations for the app in the UK, Ireland and Israel and app policy manager Eric Sanders - were also present at the meeting, but were invited to a public hearing - this after refusing to send representatives to discussions in the past.

"In recent years, there has been a disturbing trend of growing anti-Semitism around the world, particularly prominent on social media platforms," said MK Michal Kotler-Wench (blue and white) at the hearing. "It has never been easier to spread anti-Semitic propaganda and hatred through social media.

These platforms have a responsibility to ensure that they are not freely exploited by hatred distributors.

We all have a duty to demand responsibility from them in taking this responsibility, "she added.

The discussion took place against the background of Facebook's announcement of a change in its policy against Holocaust deniers, and announced that it would remove posts with an antisemitic garnet.

However, the company qualified its statement by saying that it would take time before it could remove such publications fully effectively.

In the discussion, they referred to Facebook's updates and congratulated them, but emphasized that the reality test is what will determine whether its announcement is more than a press release.

The hearing then turned to Tiktok, demanding that they remove antisemitic publications from the platform.

In recent months, a "challenge" was posted on the social network, called #HolocaustChallenge, in which millions of young people pretended to be Holocaust victims who arrive in heaven after being murdered, wearing make-up and dressing accordingly.

The Holocaust Holocaust Challenge # in Tiktok

"I have a mobile device where the Tiktok app is open to the challenge: #HolocaustChallenge which is gaining momentum on the social network," said MK Kotler-Wench, addressing Tiktok representatives present at the committee. "Millions of young people face Holocaust victims, and in some cases even Expressing sexual gestures while disguised as Holocaust victims.

A recurring motif in some of the videos is an alleged photo from heaven after the murders of Jews in the Holocaust. "

Kotler-Wensch accused the app of not doing enough to prevent the effects of Holocaust remembrance." Why and how young social network users are exposed to antisemitic content - up to songs Holocaust, and young girls disguised as Holocaust victims - and what steps is society taking to eradicate these horrific phenomena, which have reached millions of views for young users who do not even know the facts and who are participating in Holocaust denial? ".
