Timber construction should finally be demolished - only then what?

It has long been clear that the old wooden house on Bahnhofstrasse will be demolished.

But it still stands - because it is unclear what will happen to the area afterwards.

- In June 2019 the building committee of the municipality of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn decided to demolish an empty wooden structure and a building behind it.

The community had previously acquired the property in a central location on which both houses stand.

Councilor Martha Wachinger (CSU) wanted to know in the building committee from the local administration what was going on in terms of demolition.

Because so far the buildings are still standing - and in Wachinger's opinion they do not necessarily contribute to the beautification of the townscape.

"That looks sloppy," was her devastating judgment.

Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) agreed with the CSU councilor that the striking wooden building, which housed a fashion store before it was vacant, is not very attractive.

The administration has not yet managed to prepare the issue in such a way that it can be submitted to the building committee for a decision, she said.

"The question is: what do you do then?"

Construction authority employee Stefan Piehlmaier made the fundamental problem clear.

The building can be torn down at any time (corresponding offers from companies are already available), he explained, “the question is: what do you do then?” What is currently completely open is what should be done with the property.

The local council would have to deal with this question first.

Gudrun Hackl-Stoll (Greens) then suggested that after the demolition, the area should be converted into a meeting place for citizens - with seating to linger.

A suggestion that did not spark any enthusiasm among the committee members.
