The death toll from the floods and landslides that swept the central regions of Vietnam during the past days has risen to 40, in addition to the loss of 8 others.
"The number of flood victims has risen to 40, and they have been reported in the provinces of Kwangche, Quang Nam and Tua Tihin Hui," Xinhua quoted the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.
Local media reported that the torrential rains caused landslides in a hydroelectric power station in the center of Tehuah Taheen Hue district, and during search and rescue operations, contact with 13 people from the rescue team was lost, and search and rescue work was underway.
And a previous toll indicated that 36 people were killed in these floods.
