The sanctions decided by the EU concern six close collaborators of Vladimir Putin, whose names were published in the EU Official Journal, believed to be involved in the attempted poisoning of the Russian opponent.
In particular, these are Andre ‹Yarin, head of the internal affairs directorate of the presidential administration, his right-hand man Sergue‹ Kirienko, deputy defense minister Pavel Popov and three other officials.
In addition, the sanctions were also decided against the State Scientific Institute for Organic Chemistry and Technology, believed to be involved in the production of the chemical agent administered to Navalny.
The new sanctions imposed on Russia by the European Union in the Navalny case are a "hostile and illogical" measure and Moscow will respond in a way that "best suits its interests".
