An asylum conflict is smoldering between the district and the community of Gröbenzell.

As part of the family reunification, five people are expected to arrive in Gröbenzell who the district is not ready to accommodate.

Fürstenfeldbruck / Gröbenzell - Gröbenzell's mayor and UBV district councilor Martin Schäfer raised the issue in the district council and asked District Administrator Thomas Karmasin for a solution.

The latter, however, assured that he would not accommodate the family.

How did this situation come about?

When asked, Martin Schäfer explains that an asylum seeker with a permanent right to stay in Gröbenzell lives in a home in the district.

Actually, he should move out because he is recognized.

Because of the difficult situation on the housing market, the district decided a long time ago to let so-called false occupants live in its accommodations.

Gröbenzell: Asylum seeker brings wife and four children to join - what reaction follows?

The asylum seeker in Groebenzell is now bringing up his wife and four children, which he is entitled to under federal legislation.

Only: where should the six people live then?

Because it is unclear who is legally responsible for the accommodation.

Mayor Schäfer is convinced that the municipality is not responsible, but the district is.

The community is obliged to look after the homeless.

The question, however, is: is someone homeless in a place where they previously lived?

Or is he homeless in a place where he just arrived?

Asylum conflict in the Fürstenfeldbruck district: "Please go inside"

In the district council, Schäfer reported that there were enough free places.

He recently made two houses available to the district to accommodate asylum seekers.

He appealed to Karmasin: "Please go inside."

However, the district administrator does not intend to do this, at least not in the interests of Schäfer, if his position remains from the meeting.

Karmasin does not understand that the state should help just because someone is traveling from A to B.

The newcomers are neither homeless nor refugees.

They are simply travelers.

He had always warned about the problem of family reunification and pushed for regulations.

In the general frenzy, however, that was lost at the time.

Without a legal basis, he couldn't spend any money, Karmasin said.

“We're not taking them in.” He was only prepared to intervene if there was a risk of frostbite.

As Martin Schäfer explained to the daily newspaper the next day, he understood the arguments of both sides.

However, the question now has to be clarified - a solution will be found.

If necessary, he'll rent a hotel room, but that costs money.

Be sure: "I will not leave the family outside."
