The School Buildings Department in the Aleppo Education Directorate continues the rehabilitation and maintenance work of schools that have been damaged as a result of terrorist attacks in the countryside and the city, as part of the Ministry of Education's plan in this context.
The restoration and rehabilitation works include the schools (Abd al-Razzaq Darwish in the Masaken Hanano neighborhood, the fourth industrial secondary school in the Sulayman al-Halabi neighborhood, and the Bassam al-Omar school in the Saif al-Dawla neighborhood).
Director of Aleppo Education Ibrahim Maso confirmed in a statement to SANA the directorate’s keenness to expedite restoration work to address the problem of classroom density and achieve the quality of education, referring to the Ministry’s endeavor to secure all the requirements of the educational process.
Maso explained that 40 new schools will be put into service with the end of maintenance work and the beginning of the second semester of the current academic year, indicating that the number of schools in Aleppo before the war was 4,040 schools.
He pointed out that the number of schools that were maintained and rehabilitated after the liberation of the city from terrorism amounted to 488 schools, 168 of which were in the city and 320 in the liberated countryside, and the number of schools that were maintained by the invoice system, i.e. light maintenance, 832 schools, of which 50 were in the city and 782 in the liberated countryside, bringing the total number of schools opened since liberation until the start Academic year 2020-2021 1620 schools.
For his part, the head of the school buildings department in Aleppo education, Eng. Nasser Saeed, pointed out that the partial reopening of the fourth industrial secondary school in preparation for its full opening will contribute to securing new laboratories for practical training for students, noting that the school has been provided with a ramp dedicated to students with disabilities.
