Decolonizations, blood and tears

, followed by an hour of debate, seen by 1.86 million viewers.

This title evokes Churchill's famous speech of May 13, 1940. Like the Battle of Britain, French decolonization was very deadly: its conflicts left nearly a million dead, half of them in Indochina.

Let us remember, however, which does not alleviate any suffering, that the Second World War killed 50 million people, and intra-African wars since independence at least 16 million.
