Let us say it straight away: no solution is absolutely obvious.
Who can deny that the persistence of the health crisis would weigh on the holding of the campaign, the organization of the poll and the motivation of voters?
But who can admit without batting an eyelid that an election by universal suffrage can be the adjustment variable of even a very complicated situation?
It would be unwise to send millions of citizens to polling stations if the risks of contamination remained as high as they are today.
It would be unwise to suspend any democratic process in the event that a return to normal health would take too long.
