Wirecard actually wanted to move within the Dornach industrial park.

Then came the scandal.

Construction work on the building continues.

The community is hoping for other tenants.

- The Einsteinring in Dornach is currently a street full of question marks.

Mainly because of the Wirecard insolvency, everything is open here, but construction work is in full swing.

Empty office buildings are currently being gutted and the buildings are being modernized.

The site for the new construction of the parking garage is already ready for construction, and according to the decision of the building committee with 8: 1 votes, the investor can now start building here.

The original plan was for Wirecard to move from number 35 to houses 4 and 6, but that was all before the scandal of air bookings, balance sheet fraud, prosecution investigations and the partial bankruptcy filings.

How things will go with Wirecard and the existing business areas at Einsteinring is in the stars.

"Large companies from Munich want to go into the surrounding area"

The second big question mark is the upcoming move-out of the Schlemmer Group at Einsteinring 10. This departure is no surprise for Mayor Thomas Glashauser (CSU), "because it was communicated from the start that the company will only be here for a while".

At the same time, work in the vacant buildings is in full swing.

The renovation of houses 4 and 6 has already been approved, the building envelopes currently have almost the standard of a shell.

The mayor sees the ongoing modernization as positive because it will upgrade the Dornach industrial estate.

However, he can also imagine that the municipality could receive amendments for the current project because Wirecard wanted the new office space to be of high quality.

In principle, the continuation of the modernization indicates that new tenants will move in there in the coming years.

“Large companies from Munich want to go into the surrounding area,” says Mayor Glashauser.

“The market is there.” Dornach could offer good arguments here: the direct proximity to the exhibition grounds and a trade tax rate that is well below the state capital.

Thomas Glashauser is in good spirits that the investor will already have interested parties at hand when continuing the work.

Corresponding parking spaces must also be proven for the use of the buildings that have been vacant for years - and these have now been approved.

Compared to the current development plan, the building committee only had to grant minor exemptions.

There will be an entrance and an exit and no separate entrances or exits.

There are 749 parking spaces for the property opposite the parking garage with the address Einsteinring 30, but there are only 327 parking spaces on the property.

This meant that a further 422 parking spaces were required in the parking garage;

the current plan provides for 434 parking spaces.

Accusation of "secrecy"

Criticism came in the discussion about the parking garage only to the procedure.

Heinrich Broda (FW) criticized the fact that the development plan belonging to the building application was not shown publicly and spoke of “secrecy without end of the community”.

Mayor Glashauser rejected this accusation and emphasized that the administration had to go to great lengths to check what can be made public due to data protection laws.

Citizens would have the opportunity to inspect the plans at the meeting and the municipal councils would have received them as confidential attachments.

Ultimately, the committee approved the building application for the parking garage.

Only the Dornach local councilor Heinrich Broda remained true to himself and - as in the entire procedure - voted against the construction.
